Finally things are starting to move along for our NYC trip! It’s less than 40 days away and I couldn’t be more thrilled!
I’ve started working on our itinerary and here is what we have so far:
So as you can see we don’t have a breakfast place for 3 of the days and we are still trying to squish in a broadway show and a Yankee’s game!
And here is what we have spent so far:
If any one has an recommendations for places to see, shop, or eat at let me know. I’m also wanting to know what the wifi in NY is like? Should I buy a data plan for my phone or is it pretty good?
I cannot wait for this trip!

Heads up, pick just one exhibit at each museum otherwise doing two in one day will be impossible. Pick the items you want to see the most at each museum because you will get very tired very quickly. Also, I’ve heard so-so things about the museum of sex.
You’re close enough that you have to have Murray’s Bagels for breakfast/lunch at some point. Seriously!
Thanks for the tip. I’m going to. Be emailing you later this week after my midterm!
I will definitely have a bagel from there =)
you must must must read the city guides for NYC on Love Taza’s blog, Nat the Fat Rat’ blog, and Cup of Jo’s blog.
and you should read them daily anyway. because they are amazingness. Love Taza was the first blog i ever ever ever read.
thanks for the tips love i will definitely read all those blogs!
So jealous!! New York is an awesome destination!!!!
I’m so excited! I’ve never been and have been wanting to since grade11!
If you are in chelsea try Murray’s Bagels-delish! Also Gordan Ramsey’s restaurant Meze in midtown has an awesome brunch. I also like Pio Pio for a cost-friendly, family-style dinner.
I’ve also been to the museum of sex. It is just OK. Interesting, but not worth the price. If it were me, I’d do something else or go see the broadway show.
Thanks for the tips on food places! I’m hearing not great things about the museum of sex so maybe we won’t go after all.
Wanted to mention that there are two Murray’s Bagels locations. The one in Chelsea (22nd st & 8th ave) and the one at Union Square (12th st & 6th ave).
Awesome Thanks!
I wish I spent more time in and around Washington Square Park. Although, I was there in June – I’m not sure how much is going on there outside in the spring.
If you do decide on a Broadway show, you may be better off trying to find a promo code online to get cheaper tickets opposed to waiting in line at the TKTS booth in Times Square. (Those lines can be long!)
Ill check it out. Do you know what website would have such promo codes?
My husband and I are also twenty-something Edmontonians
We went to New York last year for our honeymoon for 9 days and loved every minute of it. I’m actually in the midst of doing recap posts over on my blog if you want to take a peek.
For WiFi, every Starbucks offers it for free so we used that whenever we could, but I also got a data plan so that we could use Google Maps which is REALLY handy if you plan on using public transit while you are there. It’s great for locating subway stations and to map your travel route to your destination including transit transfers etc. Also, buy yourself a 7 day metro pass while you are there, you will save money and the subway is crazy convenient.
I’d also suggest that if you aren’t doing the Museum of Sex anymore, to move your Rockefeller Center exploring to Day 2 and give yourself plenty of time on Day 5 to explore MoMA and the Met which is HUGE. We also went up to Top of the Rock instead of the top of the Empire State, which was awesome because it’s just as high and you can actually SEE the Empire state and get great pictures of it and Central Park also. I’ve heard that the lines for Empire State can be crazy long, and we didn’t find Top of the Rock to be too bad. Buy tickets in advance though.
If you have any other questions I’d be happy to answer them
Thanks so much for the awesome tips! I will definitely check out your blog!
