52 weeks of less stuff; weeks 9 & 10

Welcome back lovely readers! I can’t believe how quickly this year is already flying by! If you haven’t seen this before I decided at the beginning of 2013 that I would get rid of at least one item per week for the entire year! I’ve already thrown out 8 items and I’m on my way to getting rid of a lot more!

Item #9 – Beaded braceletĀ

Not sure where this beaded bracelet came from but I definitely don’t wear it any more and I don’t need it collecting dust in my jewellery box. I’ll probably donate this to a local charity so that some girl will get to wear it and hopefully feel pretty!

Item #10: 7 dressesĀ

I’ve decided that I’m counting all 7 of the dresses as one item because otherwise I wouldn’t have to find things to get rid of until mid-April. So I’ve listed 7 dresses on Kijiji in hopes that someone will buy them. Go crazy!

Also make sure you check out Lisa’s progress and Blair’s progress on the living with less challenge!
19% of the year is over, what have you gotten rid of?

Comments

  1. Holy hot dogs those are some cute dresses you’re getting rid of!

  2. Love this! In 2011 I gave away 2,011 things! It was really hard but also really rewarding! Keep going!

  3. Great job so far. You’ve passed the difficult stage. The first few weeks are the hardest. I wish you all the best in your journey. I started minimalizing years ago and am much happier for it. I was forced to when I backpacked Europe for a year, and the efficient habits sort of stuck.

I have noticed that many of my friends and colleagues want to trade up from their starter home to something bigger. If they just sold/donated/trashed the items in their home that they never actually used, they would have a lot more space. They would also have a lot more money (lower property taxes, less space in the house to heat).

    • Thanks for the encouragement. It is getting easier to identify stuff I don’t need. Not having as much stuff does make the condo feel more roomy!
